SPRING
2005
EVEN MORE students! Its nice to see more adult students coming
aboard.

The
Jazz Trio is bopping between the Olive
restaurant Jazz Bar and Red, Hot and
Blue Grill. Thanks to everybody for the great
turn outs (support). Can't get over the kitchen was so
backed up at Red, Hot. Some people waited an hour for
their food...Thanks for hanging' in there. We are really
packing them in and are very Thankful for the support.
Thanks to Jesse and the crew.
Congratulations
to Ben Friedman and Sam Weintraub for
making All South Jersey band for drum set and percussionist.
And to Matt Satel for making all Cherry
Hill band percussion. Great job guys! Keep up the
good work.

WINTER
2005
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Here comes the SNOW!
I'm very stoked about my 2 new MAPEX kits. First, I got
a new Pro M maple 5 piece micro kit in a Natural wood finish.
A very classy Half-shell kit (10", 12", 14" Toms,18" Bass
and a killer 13" snare drum). Its an excellent kit for Jazz or Rock
gigs. Tune up your single ply ATTACK heads for Jazz playing
or slap some Double ply Thin Skin 2's and use your provided bass lift for
Rock gigs. Don't let the Half shells fool you...these drums have plenty of
tone...its all in the heads and the tuning....and extremely easy to cart
around....you can fit 3 toms in one regular 14" tom case! Second, I
got a new Pro M Maple 6 piece fusion kit in a eye catching
Tobacco Fade finish. These drums are hot! They look smokin' under the stage
lights. They sound Big and Beautiful and are great for Rock gigs or semi
big venue gigs. UNBELIEVABLE All MAPLE drums at an unbeatable price...Check
them out at your nearest MAPEX dealer.
I also received my first JANUS Double pedal....Awesome...I
had been using the single pedal some time now and love it. Fully adjustable
and comes with both chain and strap drives.

FALL
2004
YES....MORE students. Thanks go out AGAIN to the guys at the Sam
Ash (Bobby,Kevin, and Tom) for their kind recommendations. I remember
when Sam Ash actually had a teaching program 6-7 years ago
which I was I proud to be involved with.
AGAIN........I could use another student/sub teacher to help when I have
studio work or Tour. Please email a resume and set up an interview.

SUMMER
2004
Still playing selected dates with Georgie Bonds and my Jazz
trio. Please check local listings and web sites.
Also, I'm doing fill in work with the 8 piece Horn band MOJO.
I'll post their web site when I get the address. It will be mostly "Down
the Shore" work so check your local listings. It will be nice to do
Earth, Wind, and Fire as well as some Tower of Power.
Once again the second summer in a row that sees an increase in the student
roster. I'm very grateful since I hear other teachers rosters shrinking during
the summer months.

SPRING
2004
Congratulations go out to long time student David Hirshblond of
Southampton for winning a $1000 scholarship to the college of his choice
for his drum solo performance. The judges commented favorably on David's
rudiment work, melodic drumming, and dynamic skills. Nice Job David!

WINTER
2004
I'm playing select dates with Georgie Bonds. Please check
his web sight for location and times. Also, playing out with my Jazz
trio featuring Eric Haltmeier on Saxes and Bernhard
Geiger on Bass.
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2004!! Here's
to a great year!
MERRY CHRISTMAS! Wishing
everyone a Happy and Healthy Holiday.

FALL
2003
This Fall brings another increase in the student roster. I continue to do
dates with Georgie Bonds as well as local artist demos.
ATTENTION: Any student teachers
out there want to help. Please email
me for an interview.
Summer Tour 2003
August found the Blues band Touring the North central U.
S. We had a Blast with memorable stops in Ely, Minneapolis,
Chicago, and Ohio. Unfortunetly, we had bad luck with pictures.
I'll post the best ones...the Ely Blues Festival in Minnesota
and Famous Dave's in Chicago. It was a pleasure sharing
the stage with greats Bernard Allison and Melvin Taylor.
Warmdaddy's and Red, Hot & Blue
The Georgie Bonds Blues band continues this summer to be
House bands for 2 of the areas biggest Blues venues......In
Philadelphia, the premiere Blues club Warmdaddys on Wednesday
nights and in South Jersey at Red, Hot and Blue most Saturday
nights.
Opening for Mavis Staples
The Georgie Bonds Blues band had the distinct pleasure of
opening for the legendary Mavis Staples this summer at the
wonderful U. of Penn Anthro theater. Her vocals along with
her sister were stunning. It was also nice playing for the
mayor for I think the 4th time this summer. I swear we are
his personal Blues band.
Modern Drummer’s 2003 Festival
I was happy to see that a group of my students turned out
for this inspirational and educational event. Each student
left entertained and inspired. Nick D’Virgilio was
right on with his chops as well as his vocals, an all around
great performance. Congratulations to the Staff of Modern
Drummer, especially Rick Van Horn for pulling off another
fabulous festival.
NAMM 2003 – Anaheim, CA
The MAPEX booth featured a double bass Saturn
Pro kit. The
Saturn Pro combines the warmth and depth of walnut with the
edge and clarity of maple to create a drum set that cranks
live, and sings in the studio.
Extremely impressed with the SABIAN
XS20 cymbal line. A
major breakthrough with cast bronze cymbals selling at sheet
bronze prices.
AUDIX’s D6 Mic gives an awesome performance. Applications
for the D6 are the kick drum and any other instrument requiring
precise low frequency reproduction. A great feature of the
D6 is that it is designed to sound good in any position and
it is not dependent on finding the “sweet spot” of
the drum.
SKB has developed another new case for transporting percussion
equipment, the SKB-TPX2 Small Kit Case. The case is a scaled
down version of the SKB-TPX1 that is roto molded with the
panted X pattern for strength and durability. This is a top
loading case with a removable lid and lift off hardware tray.
The SKB-TPX2 has a unique integrated fold-down cymbal vault
with (4) pads that will hold up to (6) cymbals and carpeted
storage for (1) snare drum making this the ultimate in small
kit transport.
Lots of new friends were made on this trip, including Vanilla
Fudge, featuring Carmine Appice on drums. I enjoyed dinner
with Seamus Tierney and it was great to see Mark
Schulman during one of his breaks from the Cher tour.
I also had a chance to chat with some of the greatest drummers
in the bizz, Dennis Chambers, Vinnie
Colauita, and Abe Laboriel,
Jr.
Simply, one of the best performances ever by Vinnie
Colauita at The Baked Potato, Sunday night.
SABIAN
Night hosted several bands, including Tower
of Power,
featuring original drummer, David Garabaldi. The band stole
the show.
It’s moments like these that make the
long trip worth every mile.
The Stone Pony
On March 2, 2003, The Stone Pony rocked with a benefit
for legendary blues guitarist, Hubert Sumlin. The
Georgie Bonds band shared the stage with the likes of Jimmy
Vivino and Mike Merritt from the Max
Weinberg 7. David Johansen,
South Side Johnny, Levon Helm, Michael
Hill, Lonnie Shields,
Rob Paporizzi, and Debbie Davies. The benefit was a great
success.
Richard Ray Farrell and the Blues Factor
Playing with the well-known European blues man, Richard
Ray Farrell. Richard recently relocated from Germany to
PA and has a full schedule of East Coast gigs. Richard
is best known for his work with the German label, Stormy
Monday Records (owned by Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee
and original Mothers of Invention drummer, Jimmy
Carl Black).
He’s also well known for working with ex Robert
Cray & Albert
Collins alumni and opening for Joe Cocker, Albert
King,
Luther Allison, Jeff Healy, and Jack
Bruce.
Clinic/Performance
Patrick will take part in a clinic/performance at A’Lotta
Music in Medford Lakes, New Jersey on Saturday, June 13.
Due to the huge success of last year’s clinic, a
large attendance is expected. As usual, all attendees will
have the opportunity to win door prizes provided by Patrick’s
endorsers. Many thanks to all endorsers for their promotional
support.
Now playing with Georgie Bonds, Philadelphia’s
favorite son of the blues
At Warmdaddy's, the preeminent blues club in Philadelphia,
Georgie now hosts the monthly, open mic blues jam, offering
aspiring blues musicians the same support he received from
Sonny Rhodes. As the house band, Georgie
Bonds and the Blueskeepers have shared the stage with Koko
Taylor, Jimmy
Vaughn and The Kinsey Report. They have even played in
Europe and been invited for a return engagement.
These guys are busy. They also fill the slot
of house-band for Red Hot & Blue in South Jersey. The
summer of 2003 will bring other East Coast gig locations
as well. Go to
www.georgiebonds.com for more info!
Modern Drummer's 2002 Festival
I had a great time at the festival. As usual, Rick
Van Horn and the Staff at Modern Drummer did a stellar job.
Special thanks to Johnny Dawkes and ALL
the Chads at Vater Percussion. Congratulations to all the performers, especially,
fellow endorsees Walfredo Reyes, Jr. (Mapex/Sabian); Tommy
Igoe (Attack Drumheads); Robby Ameen (Sabian/Vater); John Blackwell, Jr.(Sabian/Vater); Furio Chirico (Sabian/Vater);
Thomas Lang (Vater); Billy Cobham (Sabian).
Finished contemporary country demo with Jaron Dean
The album definitely has its finger on the pulse of the
new sound coming out of country music. Management is shopping
for a major deal this summer. Club dates are planned for
this summer too. Check back for specifics.
